The History of Preach the Word Ministries

The Genesis of Preach the Word Ministries started in Oak Harbor, Washington on January 11, 2001.

In the beginning Preach the Word Ministries was formed as a program of  “Second Coming Ministry Outreach”, which was founded by Pastor Gerald Osborne.

In the spring of 2001, Pastor Brian M Jackson Sr. and Pastor Jacqueline A Jackson moved back to the Seattle area where they attended Daystar Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Donald L. Ward.  Sr. Pastor Ward opened the doors to the church for Preach the Word Ministries to start holding services.  This ministry started as an outreach, which gave ministers who recently answered the call of God, the help and development of their skills in preaching.  In September 2003, Preach the Word Ministries and Second Coming Ministries separated and Preach the Word became a ministry on its own.  As the ministry grew we looked outside the walls to see where we could be more effective in serving God through outreach.  The ministries that manifested during our early years were, New Minister’s Preaching Ministry, Preach the Word Newsletter, Union Gospel Mission’s Men and Women Services and Street Ministry in downtown Seattle on 2nd & Pike.

On November 13, 2003, we received our 501c (3), with God continuing to increase our territory.

Preach the Word Ministries was growing at a pace that forced us to once again look at the purpose of the ministry and pray to God for direction.  PTWM has always been one to fast and pray before making a decision.  In our fourth year at Daystar Baptist Church, the Lord let us know it was time to go out on our own.  Pastors Brian and Jacqueline Jackson, Deacons Franklin and Selma Cox, and Pastor Henry and Betty Bell, set out to find our next church home.  On that same day, the Lord led us to Dunlap Baptist Church.  After contacting Pastor Rick Roberts it was agreed that PTWM would be their new tenants.  In April 2005 PTWM began our regular Sunday services.  Pastors Brian and Jacqueline lead services with Deacons Franklin and Selma Cox.

The ministries that started at Dunlap are Youth of David Young Disciples of Christ, Kent Regional Justice Center Jail Ministry, PTWM Voices of Hope, Bible study, and Wednesday Morning Prayer.  Membership remained small but faithful.  At this point, PTWM started an evening service at 6:00 pm, then moved to an afternoon service starting at 3:00 pm.  With a continuing desire to expand our outreach ministry, PTWM needed more room and time flexibility.  After one year at Dunlap Baptist Church, the building was sold and we started a renewed fast and prayer time period asking God to show us where to look for our building.

Giving God the Glory, in September 2007, we moved into what became Preach the Word Faith Center at 333 Rainier Ave. N. Renton, WA.  These were the ministries that were started on Rainier:  The Elderly Ministry, Prison Ministry at Purdy in conjunction with Women in Transition- The WINN Program, Determined to Praise God Youth Choir (DTPG) under the direction of our first Minister of Music Darius Branch and the leadership of Malani Del Rosano our first Youth Choir president, Kings of Christ Men’s Fellowship, Adult Sunday School, Children’s Sunday School and Women’s Battlefield of the Mind Bible Study.

In June 2010, the building on Rainier went up for sale and was sold in August of that year.  Through fasting and prayer with a faithful congregation in September 2010, the Lord led us to Living Hope Christian Fellowship, changing our name to Preach the Word Christian Center.  These are the ministries that were started: Wednesday Night Service and the Food For Life Program.

After four years we began fasting and praying for God’s direction and in September 2018, we moved to 26136 Pacific Hwy S located in the City Of Kent Washington.  What a MIGHTY GOOD GOD!!!!
